Peachtree Battle, the hit comedy that is quickly approaching its 10 year anniversary and became Atlanta’s longest running production, topping the original run of Driving Miss Daisy, is running strong at the Ansley Park Playhouse (APP) through October 31, 2011. The comedy penned by John Gibson and Anthony Morris, stars original cast members, Deborah Childs as Buckhead Socialite Trudy Habersham and Anna House as the lovable, eccentric Azalea Wieuca.
Peachtree Battle revolves around the life of socialite Trudy Habersham and what happens when her favorite son becomes engaged to a Hooter’s Girl.
Also held over at the APP and closing August 6th, before it starts its National Tour, is Melita Easters production of Mrs. John Marsh…The World Knew Her As Margaret Mitchell. The highly entertaining play tells the story of the reclusive author’s life before and after she became a publishing sensation. It stars Mandi Lee, a Duluth based actress and life long Gone With the Wind lover.
The play includes an audio visual component of rarely published photographs and newsreel footage from the movie’s Atlanta premiere. Largely in Mitchell’s own words, the play is based on the author’s articles, the thousands of letters she wrote and the one hour long radio interview she gave in 1936 as edited and organized by Melita Easters. Additionally, Easters incorporates her research of literary sources and biographies to construct an engaging and historically accurate picture of Mitchell’s life.
Tickets for both Peachtree Battle and Mrs. John Marsh…The World Knew Her As Margaret Mitchell are now on sale through the APP Box Office at 404-875-1193 or online at http://www.ansleyparkplayhouse.com/.
