Join us … if you dare! Center for Puppetry Arts invites adults (18+) to celebrate the spooky season with the return of The Ghastly Dreadfuls. Witness and wonder as these ghouls are once again summoned from beyond the grave to present a menagerie of fiendish delight this October 13 to 29, 2011.
One of Atlanta’s favorite Halloween traditions, this show isn’t for those who take life (or death) too seriously — between the eerie stories, the spooky songs and the devilish dances, audience members will be taken to a world that is beyond this mortal plane. Adults are encouraged to bring their most ghoulish friends, pull up a tombstone, and enjoy The Ghastly Dreadfuls — back and deader than ever!
New to the Ghastly line-up is “Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber,” an edgy story based on the legends of Bluebeard. All alone in a castle, cut off by the rising tide, a young bride discovers her deranged husband’s bloody chamber of torture and horror. Will this discovery save or kill her? Find out as The Ghastly Dreadfuls eagerly present this erotic thriller.
Before the show, patrons may experience the Center’s museum, including its exclusive Jim Henson exhibits that showcase puppets from Labryinth, The Dark Crystal, and many other Henson productions. Patrons may also enjoy a beer or a glass of wine from the “Lost Soul’s Tavern,” before the show and during intermission.
But the Dreadfuls shouldn’t have all the fun! While shows do sell out and pre-purchase is highly recommended, anyone wearing a costume to any of The Ghastly Dreadfuls performances will receive $2.00 off admission when purchasing a ticket at the ticket office window (not valid with previously purchased tickets and cannot be combined with other discounts). Patrons may also mention their planned attire when purchasing tickets over the phone to receive the discount. A special Halloween costume contest will also be held during intermission of the Saturday, October 29 performance, just in time to kickoff Halloween, so guests should dress to impress.
The Ghastly Dreadfuls will be presented in the Downstairs Theater. Show times are as follows:
- October 13 to October 29, 2011: Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m.
- Special Preview Performance: Wednesday, October 12 at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available for $25 and can be purchased online at www.puppet.org or by calling the ticket sales office at: 404-873-3391. For more information visit http://www.puppet.org/.
