ART Station’s 2011-2012 Gallery Exhibitions Announced


ART Station an Atlanta-area TheaterART Station’s 2011-2012 Gallery Exhibitions have been announced.

Gwinnett Technical College Portfolio Show
August 20 to October 29, 2011

The Commercial Photography program at Gwinnett Technical College provides a rich multidisciplinary environment for digital and traditional media instruction, research, and practice. The program focuses on the creative potential of each participant and fosters exceptional opportunities for innovative, interdisciplinary exploration of digital media and imaging. Gwinnett Tech offers a two year Associate in Applied Science Degree which includes a specialization in Digital Imaging Specialist.

Lab and studio areas are equipped with cutting edge digital equipment, Macintosh computers, Epson printers along with traditional studio equipment and lighting. Students are encouraged to blend the technologies and be unique in their personal vision. Students will graduate with a portfolio and participate in Atlanta Celebrates Photography with their Senior Show.

“Strange Stories – The Art of Lostdogbob” by Bob Davis
November 12, 2011 to December 31, 2011

Bob Davis’ art reflects the strange workings inside his head and outside in his world. Based in Athens, GA his day to day experiences are revealed in a palette filled with pure and brilliant hues as he sculpts animals and paints them, landscapes and other familiar strangers.

“Pareidolia” by Eddie Carpenter
January 14 to March 3, 2012 / March 17, 2012

Pareidolia, a vague and random stimulus being perceived as significant. Eddie Carpenter’s acrylic paintings are mysterious yet oddly amusing. The proportions play and the blurring of the cartoon into portraiture is really just another way of holding two extremes in balance.

“It’s All About Colour” by Sally Evans
March 30 to May 19, 2012

Originally born in England, now based in Atlanta, Sally Evans paints, with an abundance of colour, realistic landscapes and flower works on paper in transparent watercolor and opaque gouache and abstracts in an American modernism manner.

DeKalb County Schools and Faculty Exhibition

Showcasing the work of DeKalb County’s Elementary, Middle and High School students and faculty.

“Home and Heart” by Cindy Thornton
June 2 to August 18, 2012

From rope tied clouds and breezy trees, to curious homes and other whimsical subject matter, Orlando, FL artist Cindy Thornton’s work features an array of color and motion. Described as a “storybook-style painter” her paintings capture a whimsical mood through the use of expressive ‘fauve’ colors and fun subject matter.

ART Station is located at 5384 Manor Drive in Stone Mountain Village. Gallery hours at ART Station are Tuesday – Friday 10 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 3 with extended hours in the Summer. Founded in 1986, ART Station is a non-profit contemporary arts center that provides cultural and educational opportunities to the entire community. ART Station is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation.
