The Second City Brings New Show to the Alliance Theatre

Sex and The Second City: A Romantic Dot ComedyThe Alliance Theatre welcomes back The Second City, Chicago’s legendary comedy theatre, with its new hit Sex and the Second City: A Romantic Dot Comedy.

For the past three seasons, The Second City has produced Atlanta-centric holiday shows with Too Busy to Hate…Too Hard to Commute, Peach Drop, Stop and Roll and Miracle on 1280 Peachtree Street. Back for the fourth year, The Second City will bring an entirely new concept. This year’s play focuses on relationships in the age of social networking.

“There’s no element of dating and sex that this show misses. You won’t be able to breathe, you’ll be laughing so hard,” –The Denver Westword Arts Blog.

The four member cast is made up of Angela Dawe, Ed Kross, Zach Muhn, and Amy Roeder. Amy Roeder, an Atlanta transplant, has been a part of The Second City shows at the Alliance from the beginning.

This new comedy also includes some of the Second City trademark improvisation and audience interaction. Sex and the Second City: A Romantic Dot Comedy was created by the casts of The Second City; it was adapted by and features original material by Kirk Hanley and Maribeth Monroe along with Jimmy Carlson. Members of the artistic team that will bring this hilarious show to the stage are Jimmy Carlson (Director), Scott Stevenson (Composer), and Matt Guthier (Costumer).

The Second City is the birthplace of many legendary comic geniuses including Steve Carell, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Mike Myers, John Candy and Tina Fey. Besides being a proven training ground for high profile comedians, it has a solid national reputation for irreverent, homegrown sketch comedy.
