Actor’s Express Theatre announces the resignation of Lara Smith from the position of Managing Director, effective July 31, 2012, the end of the organization’s current fiscal year. Smith will be leaving to assume the position of Managing Director at Dad’s Garage. A national search for Actor’s Express’ next Managing Director is currently underway.
“In her two years with Actor’s Express, Lara has made an indelible impact on our organization,” says Bruce Cohen, Chair of the Board of Directors. “During Lara’s tenure, Actor’s Express weathered a serious financial storm and not only survived, but came through it in better shape than ever before. With the help of Lara’s abilities and great diligence, we have strong financial systems in place, a dynamic strategic plan, and a carefully crafted map for our future. We are sorry to see Lara leave, and we wish her much luck in her next endeavor.”
Freddie Ashley, Actor’s Express Artistic Director, says, “Lara will be sorely missed by all of us at Actor’s Express. She and I have been true partners, and we’ve worked together very well. But this is a great move for Lara, and we are proud of her. We know she remains an ardent fan of Actor’s Express, as we remain among her biggest fans.”
“This was an unexpected opportunity I just couldn’t pass up,” says Smith on her transition. “It was a very difficult decision because I truly adore Actor’s Express: the staff, Board, mission, and vision. But I know the company will continue to thrive in my absence.”
The company’s Board of Directors has formed a search committee and is conducting a nationwide search to fill the Managing Director position. The opening and job description will be posted publicly and on the Actor’s Express website. Interested parties may submit a resume with cover letter to Deborah Marshall, Search Committee Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
