Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays begins a sixth year of club comedy performances on the square in downtown Lawrenceville with an expanded schedule by introducing Funny Fridays: Saturday Edition. The headliner for this first weekend of stand-up comedy will be Matt Mitchell, a former cast member of the nationally syndicated Rick & Bubba radio show and a stint as a correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Also appearing will be the host of Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays, comedienne Debra Cole along with two of Atlanta’s hottest young comedians Mike Albanese and Ben Evans. It will be an amazing weekend of comedy in the Aurora Studio Theatre July 20 to 21 at 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.

About The Comedians

Matt Mitchell got his start as the “Casio Kid” on the nationally syndicated Rick and Bubba radio show. After his reality TV show, The Fatchelor rocked the airwaves of the Turner South channel he put his radio career on hold and moved to Hollywood. Matt’s big break came as an on-air correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He continued this rapid rise from small town class clown to mainstream comic on MTV, FOX, game shows and commercials. His comedy is a hit with all audiences. From life as small town boy to his experiences in the bright lights of the big city and all the awkward situations in between, Matt Mitchell keeps audiences engaged with his likable personality, quick wit and charming chubbiness.

Debra Cole, host of Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays since this past January, is known to Atlanta comedy enthusiasts for her wry humor and rapid-fire style.

Born in Philadelphia but raised in the south, Mike Albanese mixes his internal struggle with paranoia and his longing for that perfect girl by using comedy to cope with his existence. Mike’s humor is destined to make you feel better about yourself.

A regular at Laughing Skull Lounge, Ben Evans is a good looking guy with a razor sharp wit whose comedy has a take-no-prisoners approach to society’s imperfections.
