The Stone MounART Station an Atlanta-area Theatertain Arts Incubator Micro-Enterprise program has two openings in its studio and gallery program.

Artist must have studio and galleries open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. All utilities are paid by the program and 95% of the rent is paid. Artist must agree to pay a 30% commission on sales to the City of Stone Mountain. Artist must meet eligible income requirements and must attend two monthly workshops in order to be eligible for the program. The program is highly competitive.

The program is managed by ART Station. (http://www.artstation.org/) SMart, Inc., consisting of five art galleries and several studios, is Georgia’s only Micro Enterprise Program using the arts as a tool for economic revitalization. The program generates and nurtures a creative economy in the Village of Stone Mountain by providing low cost studio and gallery spaces where artists can create, sell and exhibit their art work. In return for its commitment to the arts, the City of Stone Mountain benefits from having colorful, exciting businesses in buildings on Main Street that had been vacant for many months. It also reaps the rewards of having visitors who come to see the studios and galleries discover the other businesses in this charming, historic small town.

Artists are selected for the SMart, Inc. program by a competitive process based on criteria that includes: quality of their art work, the accessibility of their art work to the current market, the pricing structure of the art work, and the professional presentation of the finished art. All artists are working in their studios from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, allowing visitors to not only enjoy the work exhibited in the Galleries, but also watch the artists creating their art in paint, clay, textiles, enamel on copper, and stained glass. For an application or for additional information visit http://www.smart-inc.org/.  Applications are also available on the ART Station website.
