Actor’s Express Opens 25th Anniversary Season with Kiss of the Spider Woman


Actor’s Express is excited to open its 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON with the Broadway blockbuster Kiss of the Spider Woman on August 25, 8 p.m. curtain. Previews are August 23 and 24, and the company launches the exciting new program, the “Director’s Rough Cut” performance, on Wednesday August 22, a “pay-what-you-want” sneak peek. The show is directed by Freddie Ashley and introduces Atlanta to newcomer Liberty Cogen as “Aurora/Spider Woman”. Valentin, a Marxist revolutionary, and Molina, a gay window dresser, develop an uneasy friendship rooted in surviving life in a Latin American prison. The search for Actor’s Express’ next managing director is successfully underway. Kate Warner has stepped in as Interim Managing Producer while the Board and staff finalize the interview process.

“We are thrilled with the response we have received and with the strong resumes submitted from across the country,” says Bruce Cohen, Board Chair. “We are now conducting final interviews and look forward to announcing our new Managing Director within the next few weeks.”

Kate Warner, who is no stranger to the Atlanta theatre scene and directed Next Fall at Actor’s Express last season, is thrilled to be able to help in this interim capacity: “The Express has been a creative home for me for many years and I am thrilled to be able to serve as Interim Managing Producer as the Company kicks off its exciting 25th Anniversary season and completes the search for their new Managing Director. I love Freddie, I love the company, so this is a great homecoming for me, too.”
