On February 25, 2013 some of Atlanta’s best theatrical talent will join Christmas Eve (Leslie Bellair) for a one night only concert: The More You Ruv Someone at the First Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta.
The show was spawned from an idea created by Broadway’s original Christmas Eve, Anna Harada and a concert she did called Christmas Eve with Christmas Eve, which was a benefit for Broadway Care’s Equity Fights AIDS. Chris Brent Davis and Leslie Bellair, who played Christmas Eve in Atalnta’s began disussing the idea of doing a similar show in Atlanta.
“Around the first of the year, Leslie and I joked about doing a concert featuring her as Christmas Eve called Valentine’s Day with Christmas Eve, but not wanting to get stuck in a “love” theme we ventured out and just decided to do an open platform by which Christmas Eve could perform whatever she wanted,” explains Davis.
The show will showcase a vareity of Atlanta performers, including: Denise Arribas, Mary Nye Bennett (Horizon’s Kate Monster), Kylie Brown (Ghost Brother’s of Darkland County, Actor’s Express’ Spring Awakening), 2 Suzi Bass Award-Winner Ingrid Cole, Marissa Druzbanski, Caroline Freedlund, Danielle Girardeau, Dustin Lewis, Heidi and Jeff McKerley, Claci Juday (Broadway’s Annie Get Your Gun), Nick Morrett, Chase Peacock (Original Broadway Cast of American Idiot), Glenn Rainey (Lyric’s Hairspray), Diany Rodriguez (Int’l Tour of Rent, The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls), Kelly Schmidt, Tyler Wals, and Traci Weisberg.
Under the the music direction of Davis with choreography by Chandler Clark, the show promises one show-stopping number after another and an evening of fun entertainment for a good cause. Part of the proceeds from the event will go to help the FMCCA and the various charities that the group supports.
The concert will be held at the First Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta on 1379 Tulie Rd NE, Atlanta GA. Tickets are on-sale for $15 online and $20 at the door. For more information or tickets, please visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/331975.
