STAGE DOOR PLAYERS, Dunwoody’s only professional theater company, presents Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel, opening May 17 and running through June 9, 2013. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. (No performance Sunday, May 26. Additional performance Thursday, June 6 at 8 p.m.)
Winner of the 1992 Tony Award for Best Play, and regarded as “the most elegant and rueful memory play since The Glass Menagerie,” this extraordinary drama is the story of five unmarried sisters eking out their lives in a small village in Ireland in l936. Their spare existence is interrupted by brief, colorful bursts of music from the radio, their only link to the romance and hope of the world at large. Widely regarded as Brian Friel’s masterpiece, this haunting play is a tribute to the spirit and valor of the past.
Featuring Erin Considine, George Deavours, Rachel Frawley, Jeremy Harrison, Gina Rickicki, Mary Saville, Ann Wilson and Travis Young.
The show is directed by Tess Malis Kincaid.
The design team includes Dan Bauman (Sound Design), Jennifer Holden (Costume Design), Courtney Loner (Production Manager), Hampton Whatley (Technical Director), John David Williams (Lighting Design), and Chuck Welcome (Scenic Design).
