Expanding its commitment to enriching our community, Aurora Theatre in partnership with BrandBank and BrandMortgage proudly announces the title sponsorship of the 2013-14 Mainstage Season to be named the Brand Signature Series. As Aurora Theatre continues to lead the way in professional entertainment in Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta, the company has planned an exceptional 18th Season offering its biggest Broadway musical to date, Les Misérables.
Aurora Theatre is one of the first local professional companies in the nation to be granted the rights to produce Les Misérables, the most epic musical in history. The production will run July 25 to September 8, 2013, leading off a season of original musicals and riveting plays. Aurora’s ability to license blockbuster Broadway productions like Les Misérables, A Catered Affair (in 2010) and its ability to produce world premiere works like Clyde ‘N Bonnie: A Folktale created by world renowned talent such as Hunter Foster, is remarkable considering the recent shuttering of long time theatre operations throughout the metropolitan area.
At over a century of service, Brand is focused on revitalizing and growing the communities they serve. Brand has been an ardent supporter of Aurora Theatre since the company expanded to its current home on the square in downtown Lawrenceville in 2007. The Brand Signature Series at Aurora Theatre will consist of six productions including the season opener Les Misérables and Gwinnett’s longest running theatrical holiday tradition, Christmas Canteen, now in its eighteenth year. The series will include the Star Wars-themed comedy All Childish Things, the uplifting Broadway play Lombardi, the exciting new musical The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown and the uproarious sequel to the Aurora’s 2010 hit Boeing-Boeing, Mark Camelotti’s Don’t Dress for Dinner.
BrandBank Senior Vice President Margaret E. Whieldon on the partnership with Aurora Theatre, “BrandBank and BrandMortgage are proud supporters of the arts and pleased to present the Brand Signature Series with the Aurora Theatre. The high quality plays, directing, acting, and production are a valuable cultural addition to Gwinnett County.”
Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez explains why Brand is such a good fit with Aurora, “Brand represents the same kind of deep family connection and community tradition that makes Gwinnett great. That is the same foundation on which Aurora Theatre is built. Brand’s commitment as title sponsors goes beyond simply supporting the arts. Brand’s presence unequivocally makes the case that the arts are important to maintaining a dynamic, prosperous community. Additionally, it is a testament to Aurora Theatre’s strength as a regional arts presence. Our 18th season is all about creating an ARTS Revolution and Brand is helping us kick that off with a bang!”
Aurora Theatre will continue to expand their other highly popular entertainment series:
- The Harvel Lab Series, sponsored by Georgia Gwinnett College — a selection of five great shows to be performed in the intimate 90-seat Studio Theatre
- Learning Library — weekday main stage performances for elementary school field trips in October, January and February
- Aurora Comedy Nights — club comedy shows
- Swing Nights at the Aurora — concerts featuring live music and big bands
- Aurora Children’s Playhouse — featuring the region’s top children’s performers
- Lawrenceville, GA Ghost Tours — one of the area’s favorite tourist attractions
Packed into the calendar year will be a host of other opportunities to celebrate with Aurora Theatre including, author events, wine tastings, the Aurora Theatre Charity Golf Tournament and the Aurora Theatre Awards Gala.
