Synchronicity Theatre will kick off participation in art|DBF this Friday with a surprise performance at the Kidnote Address for Little Shop of Stories. New at the Decatur Book Festival this year, art|DBF will showcase over 40 arts organizations over Labor Day Weekend, including Synchronicity.  The showcase includes stories, performances, music, film and art installations designed to engage the broader community in local arts opportunities.  Synchronicity, whose work focuses on audience engagement and community partnerships, will perform a short scene at the 5:00pm Kidnote Address in Agnes Scott College’s Gaines Auditorium.

In addition to Friday’s performance, a sneak peek at Peter Pan and Wendy, Synchronicity’s co-production with Aurora Theater, will fly in Sunday at 2:30pm.  Visitors can stop by Synchronicity’s booth in the Atlanta Planit Pavilion throughout the weekend to learn more about the theatre’s upcoming season at the 14th Street Playhouse in Midtown Atlanta.

Led by co-founder and producing artistic director Rachel May and Managing Director Dee Sandt, Synchronicity’s mission is to activate communities toward social change through powerful, transformative theatrical experiences. The theatre reaches more than 10,000 patrons each year through shows for adults (Bold Voices Series); and families (Family Series); the annual Women in the Arts Panel Luncheon; Playmaking for Kids summer camps and after-school programs; and the acclaimed Playmaking for Girls program, which works with teenage girls in the juvenile justice system.

The 2013-2014 season features two world premieres, including the season-opening production of Milvotchkee, Visconsin; a swashbuckling musical adaptation of the classic Peter Pan story; Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a Chinese folktale adventure story based on the 2010 Newbery Honors book by Grace Lin; and Lasso of Truth, a smart, sexy look at gender politics and the impact of iconic comic book heroine Wonder Woman.
