Aurora Theatre assembles the best children’s performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children’s Playhouse. This holiday season features an expanded schedule including performances both at 10 and 11:30 a.m. for the three Saturday’s in December leading up to Christmas. Parents are always looking for inexpensive activities that are fun for the whole family; Aurora Children’s Playhouse has them.
On December 7, All Hands Productions kicks off the parade of holiday puppets at Aurora with Santa’s Missing Mail. Ominous Crook and his sidekick, Skellmutt, are two dastardly bad guys who are out to stop Christmas by stealing Santa Claus’ mail. You’ll meet some panicked elves, a wise-cracking reindeer, a dim-witted superhero and Santa, himself. Written by former Sesame Street puppeteer, David Stephens, the show has been a holiday tradition for many Atlantan’s since 1998. Santa’s Missing Mail will make its Aurora Children’s Playhouse debut this year.
Back for a ninth straight year with the holiday classic ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, Aurora welcomes Piccadilly Puppets on Saturday, December 14. The story is told from the point of view of a mouse that was actually there and saw what really happened on that very special night. Having entertained generations of families with puppet shows for over 30 years, it’s no surprise they continue to play to sell-out crowds.
On December 21, the Aurora Children’s Playhouse holiday finale will be Trouble in Toyland. There’s big trouble at the North Pole this year! A blizzard is on the way, the elves are on strike, and Rudolph has a runny nose! Will Christmas have to be cancelled? Last year’s world premiere puppet show returns with “That Puppet Guy”— Lee Bryan.
