Serenbe Playhouse Launches New Education Program and Summer Camp Programs

Serenbe Playhouse, the award winning site-specific theatre company, is blazing new trails with the creation of the Serenbe Playhouse Academy.  Educational programming geared towards students from all stages and walks of life will be offered year round and will cover a variety of topics taught by some of the area and nation’s brightest theatrical stars!

On January 13, Serenbe Playhouse Academy presented the first in a series of monthly Masterclasses by hosting Jody Feldman, Asscoiate Producer and Casting Director for the Tony Award winning Alliance Theatre, for a workshop to help perfomers refine and expand their audition techiniques.  Monthly workshops are planned for the rest of the year and will touch upon a spectrum of subjects including improvisational skills, Shakespeare, writing for the stage and countless more.  Each workshop is geared towards a different skill level, so there is truly something for everyone; it is a theatre student’s dream buffet, where you can get as much as you want!

In June of this year, Serenbe Playhouse Academy plans on sending younger thespians on a pair of journeys that stretch beyond the imagination.  Over two two week sessions, campers will work with some of Atlanta’s best theatrical professionals to create original performances based around The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical hit, Oklahoma! (both of which are being presented as part of Serenbe Playhouse’s Season of Journeys.)  Students’ minds and skills will reach new frontiers as they work on acting, vocal and dance techniques – with a final presentation after ten days.  Children from elementary through high school age are invited to register for Atlanta’s newest and most exciting and innovative theatre camps, and are promised a summer full of fun and one of a kind theatre education!

Serenbe Playhouse Academy Summer Camps run for two week sessions, beginning June 2  (A Journey over the Rainbow: Grades 3 through 6) and June 16 (A Journey to the Wild West: Grades 6 through 12.)
