The nominations for the Fourth Annual Atlanta Theater Fan Awards have been announced and The Alliance Theatre leads with 13 nominations, nine of which are for Harmony – A New Musical, making it the most-nominated production for the 2013-2014 season.
The Atlanta Theater Fan Awards were established in 2011 to give audiences the chance to recognize their choices for the best of the best in Atlanta-area professional theaters.
Actor’s Express’ production of the Broadway hit End of the Rainbow about the last days of Judy Garland’s life and Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company’s Race lead the plays with six 2014 Atlanta Theater Fan Awards nominations each.
In addition to End of the Rainbow and Race, the Best Play category includes Horizon Theatre’s production of Elemeno Pea and the world premiere of The Only Light in Reno at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, which was written by Atlanta’s own Topher Payne.
For the first time there was a tie in the Best Musical category resulting in five nominations instead of the usual four. Fans have nominated Harmony – A New Musical at the Alliance Theatre, Hair at Serenbe Playhouse, Les Misérables at Aurora Theatre, Spamalot at Atlanta Lyric Theatre, and Godspell at Stage Door Players.

Like with the nomination process, the winners will be determined solely by fan voting. Each fan is allowed to select one choice in each category and can vote only one time. The Atlanta Theater Fan Awards guidelines can be found by clicking here. The deadline for voting is July 30, 2014 and winners will be announced August 6, 2014.
