The results are in and congratulations to the winners of the 2014 Atlanta Theater Fan Awards! This year includes two shows to sweep their nominated categories: The Alliance Theatre’s Harmony – A New Musical and Actor’s Express’ End of the Rainbow.
In fact, both top productions broke records for number of total wins for a single production. Winning Best Play and five other categories, End of the Rainbow becomes the first play to win six awards. With nine total wins including Best Musical, Harmony – A New Musical now holds the record for not only the most wins for a musical but also the most Atlanta Theater Fan Award wins for any production ever.
For the individual achievement categories, there are 15 first-time winners. However, this year represents the second win for Best Scenic Design for Leslie Taylor, winning for End of the Rainbow after a 2011 win for the Alliance Theatre’s August: Osage County. Additionally, this year marks Serenbe Playhouse’s second win for Best Family/Children’s Show with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz after winning in 2013 for The Velveteen Rabbit.
